My Professional Experiences

I  am a twenty-year educator in the public school system.  After spending some time home with my children, I have spent the last fifteen years as a high school librarian.

Since my children are grown and gone, mostly, I have entered a new stage in my life, and I'm looking to leave the world of public education and head into the business world.

During the pandemic, I led my teachers to transition to virtual classrooms, providing training on best practices, serving as a point of contact for new technologies, and providing solutions to instructional and technology problems that arose.  During this transition, I discovered I enjoyed designing content and curating resources.  I can easily spend hours creating a lesson from beginning to end.

I routinely teach myself new technologies.  I love the problem solving aspect of development and design. One thing I love about technology is that you have to "play" to learn. I utilize social media to keep up with emerging technology, especially TikTok and Twitter. Lately, I have been focusing on learning Cyber Link Power Director and Adobe Premiere Pro. I used it to create my daughter's highlight film from a recent tournament.

I have an active professional learning network, and I'm always discovering better ways of doing things.  More importantly, I routinely share with my staff and colleagues.  Years ago, before it became too difficult to maintain, I published a blog called TechnologTuesdays, where I would share new technologies and ideas.

Outside of Work

I live in a rural area on a family farm.  Remote work has opened a whole new door of opportunities for me!  For me, there truly is no place like home.  BUT, living in rural America has its challenges.  A thirty-minute drive is a norm for most things. I drive 90 minutes each way, twice a week, just so my daughter can play on an elite soccer team.  However, the internet has dramatically improved our access to other parts of the country.

Just a few images from my window!

I am a huge soccer fan!  Of course, my favorite team is the one my daughter(s) play for!  Most weekends, you will find me watching my daughter play up and down the east coast.  I'm also a big Barcelona FC and Chelsea fan.  I even coached for a short time.

Lastly, my family has been the most important thing to me these last twenty-five years.  I am proud to say that I am the mother of  🌟5🌟accomplished daughters.  It occurred to me yesterday that I do have project management experience.  I have successfully coordinated 7 (including my husband and myself) schedules for the last twenty-five years, including valuable sporting events, practices, homework, field trips, work, vacations, and emergencies.  To see the remarkable women they have become makes it all worth it!
